It's Known As Tucker Blvd to You and Me
The other day, while on my way to the Over/Under Bar & Grill, I decided to hop off MetroLink at Civic Center and take the #99 Downtown Trolley for the first time. MetroLink would have gotten me to my destination 20 minutes sooner, but oh well. Considering that I had purposely omitted discussing the #99 in a few recent posts, I figured I might as well introduce myself to the bus route.
From Civic Center to 4th St, I was one of three people on the bus. Then at the Hyatt, seven people boarded the bus, all tourists. One couple I started talking with was from southern Indiana and were on their way back to the Sheraton… yes, they knew they were going the wrong way and no, they did not care. To my surprise, I ended up being the first one off the bus at 10th St.
But my reason for posting is not to talk about the people I met or saw on the bus, but to mention the two typos or mistakes I saw on the route map (which is great, by the way) posted on the bus’s ceiling within 10 seconds of sitting down. First, the route operates both ways on Tucker Blvd between Clark St and Market St. Second, Tucker Blvd hasn’t been known as 12th St since 1979.
Sorry Metro, I don’t mean to belittle, but I notice little things like that.
