Excuses, Excuses
It has been over two months since I last made a post. Here’s the lowdown on why this blog has been so quiet.
Where have I been?
I haven’t gone anywhere. Life has simply kept me way too busy to write much of anything on this site of mine save for an occasional tweet. Three things have kept me away from my desk in the past few months:
- I got married! Between wedding planning, the wedding itself, and my honeymoon, I had virtually no free time to write any posts.
- I started watching Lost. My wife is an avid fan and I started watching the show with her during the 5th season. Despite my utter confusion, I was hooked. For the last 2-3 months, I’ve been busy watching the previous 5 seasons on DVD in anticipation of the start of the series’ final season starting in February.
- My wife and I got a dog, a feisty little Westie that loves every person and dog she ever meets. Potty training… continues.
A New Look
I’ve never been satisfied with the design I originally created for this site. My first design, a moderately modified default Blogger template, always felt too restrictive: I was afraid that after a certain number of posts, I would start feeling stuck to the basic layout of the template I had chosen without an easy way out.
I found some ideas and inspiration after reading a pair of articles on Subtraction and Information Architects. The biggest features are that the site is now significantly wider with larger text making it easier to read. I also have space to display large 620px wide pictures in the body and with a little more customization, maybe even 830px. All I need now is a better camera.
There are a few things on the site I have yet to restore, but will shortly: the blogroll is missing as is the Twitter Feed. As for regular posts, I make no guarantees. I know I’ve missed a lot of great topics in the past few months (e.g. the opening of I-64). In the future, I’ll try not to let them pass without at least writing something about them.
Welcome back. I've been eager to see more posts from you. What you've put up so far has been wonderful.
Congradualations by the way.
